Reduction-fired porcelain stem cup, with a Pacific White Skate, some mermaid's purse egg casings, atop a volcano coloured with oxides. This is very beautiful deep-sea living skate. I made this cup because I could not stop thinking about their nursery atop an underwater volcano off of Haida Gwaii - they use the heat from the thermal vents to keep the eggs warm. For a tealight, an egg, or one ice cube and a little vermouth in the evening.
