Reduction-fired stoneware pourer. I was looking at historical samplers in embroidery and also in the Mennonite Fraktur folk art tradition. I was interested in what elements were included and why. I devised my own sampler of current thoughts and ideas - dogs, cell division, netting, matches, etc. Some serendipitious iron carbon trapping bloomed to look like cell growth.

Care and feeding: Always a good idea with handmade items to not pour boiling water directly into your cup - temper with a little warm water first (also called "mothering") to reduce shock.
